Ok so I installed the amps, gotta love that batttery in the trunk, made life much easier for me there, removed the dash parts to get the factory unit out and man it was not fun making the aftermarket deck fit in there, once I got the dash kit in there and wired in the fancy harness and antenna adapter I had an interference issue with the plastic plate hitting the back of the deck it stuck out about an 1.5", The alpine ipod adapter wire was hitting as well. I was not to happy about that so I ended up making clearances with a air body saw in that plastic being carful to not hit anything when I cut a clearance hole. Even with the clearance hole it still was pretty tight in there. But I suceeded in getting it all in and happy and back together. The speakers he had were quite the dealio had thier own little amp boxes and all with tweeters. I could not get the bloody door panels off the manual window cranks have some sort of clip that holds them on that I can't seem to find so if anyone has a how-to on removing the door panel with the manual hand crank let me know. As for the rear deck lid I got all the panels off according to the how-to but I could not get the rear clips to release so I left it rather than break anything and told him to wait till I get more info on that part. Overall I gotta say that this has to be 1 of the more difficult jobs I have had to do for the deck install, I certainly never had that much of a clearance issue when sliding a deck back in like that.

There is a special way to remove the window cranks as I recall. However I have never owned one without power windows so I'm not much help there.

The rear deck though I do believe there are clips in the back that you have to release from the trunk area...that or I broke mine :D

lol, well the guy called me and here is the issue I am facing, when he turns on his signal lights and goes to turn the wheel the power to the deck dies, I know I wired it according to the diagram anyone else have this issue? Here is what I wired in according to the harness diagram;

12V Ignition / Acc. . . . . . . . . . Red wire wired to ign acc for deck
12V Batt / Memory. . . . . . . . . Yellow wired to power for deck
Ground. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Black* wired to ground
Power Antenna. . . . . . . . . . . . Blue ** I capped this wire not needed***
Amp Turn-On . . . . . . . . . . . . . Blue / White *** I capped this wire and just ran the remote wire from the deck harness to the amps*
Amp Ground. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Black / White ** did not see this 1 in the harness**
Illumination . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Orange ** wired to the illumination for the deck harness***
SWC green/wite............... ** capped not required for this deck***

So I am left with 2 possibilites, 1 the gm module is killin my deck power or 2 Something got pinched when I wired the deck and pushed it all into the dash. Memory for radio channels etc is retained when the deck power dies by the way. The downloaded instructions talk about a 30 pin harness which I do not recall seeing, is that located somewhere in the dash that I need to plug into? From what I saw on the module there was just 1 plug.

ok I took it apart in hopes of finding an issue and I noticed that it was not the gmos-lan-03 adapter but a pac adapter the c2r-gm11 adapter, so I used a buss add a fuse and ran a wire from the fuse panel to the deck for ign acc wire. The wiring diagram for it had a wire for ign acc but it was 1 amp max for it. Either way it works just dandy now and he is a happy customer. By the way guys if you want to add a fuse or circuit power I highly recommend these Bussmann BP/HHH ATM Add-A-Fuse, its all we use and it does no damage to the fuse panel at all unlike most fuse taps which are downright dangerous. Just make sure you don't exceed the 10 amp rating on it for the circuit you are pulling or the circuit you are adding.

u slide it between the panel and the crank and the ring holding it on will come off

and for the back dash just pull straight back on it and the clips will undo them selves

manual door removal

Ok I found that little clip I was looking for on the manual window crank, man they really tucked that into the handle there, I am used to seeing it much further away from the flared part of the crank. As for the little plastic part that covers the screw in that little pocket if you ever have to remove it don't try prying where the clip is, pry it at the opposite end, it pops out much easier that way. I got the door skin off and sized it all up for the new speaker mounting.

Problem I am running into here with these mb quarts is that I am wiring them up for a coaxial setup, tweets in the speakers, and I only have 1 set of speaker wires running into the door. I looked at the wiring schematic for the speakers and it is kinda off. http://www.maxxsonics.net/manuals/mbquart/pdfs/pce_216.pdf the problem I see is that they are calling the spade terminal + but in the wiring schematic they are not showing the wires going to the + terminal just the 2 negative terminal screws which is confusing me a bit. The other issue is that with 1 set of speaker wires per door can I just connect the + and - of the tweet to the + and - of the speaker wire or do I need to run seperate wires for the tweet from the crossover becuase that would entail me running more wires for the doors which I would like to avoid. All the speakers are going to be run to a alpine 4 channel amp in the trunk. I just hooked the speaker wiring from the amp to the factory wiring behind the headunit for the front speakers for now.

ok im pretty knowledgeable in this feild.... so heres my 2 cents..

you can get the cheap harness:Metra 70-2202
pretty much anything in the car that "dings" is gonna go bye bye, i am using this harness my self and i LOVE not having annoying door chimes or blinker noises :)

OR

you can retain all that chimes shit using the : Metra GMOS-LAN-03( not really worth it IMO)

then your gonna need a antenna adapter :Metra 40-CR10

and to answer the mix up

05-06 cobalts the door chimes were in the gauge cluster
07-present cobalts, the door chimes came through the speakers

need anything else, just ask :)

this. :) and i completely agree, i have the cheaper harness and i loveee not hearing the chime all the time lol

So an added update I installed the speakers and his amp did not send out anything to the speakers, I bench tested it and the amp was dead in the water for outputs. So we got another 1 and put in and once I had hooked up all the wires it did not turn on at all, bench tested that and the amp did not even power on lol, fuses were all good. So we got a 3rd amp and that one worked for us problem is that his mb quart woofers were damaged, I think either from how I wired it or from the damaged amp we installed first, either way I took responsibility for it and did not charge for the install of the speakers/amps. Long story short this car has been cursed, I honestly gotta say that it has turned me off cobalts for sure.
