i have fe5 suspension. it's an 06 ss/sc. i don't want 5x110 is what i'm saying. 5x114.3 has plenty of awesome wheels available and 4x100 has some goodies as well. WORK makes wheels for both lug patterns...and being that I am obsessed with jdm and stance I want work wheels on my car. the 5x114.3 conversion looks risky. I'm sure i could do it, but I'd rather keep the car oem as possible. I'm making some good money as of late and it wouldn't be out of the question.

I saw an entire rear swing arm and suspension on that Ebay seller that I am completely forgetting the name of....Dont recall the price but it was a bit high since you get all the parts from the suspension.

Texas has got to have some junkyard somewhere with an SS/SC or TC in it with a good swing arm.

i have access to employee discounts at a dealer so it wouldn't be that expensive. and the body shop is bound to get a wrecked cobalt eventually. I guess that's a good idea, grab a scrapped rear or use my old one and just take my time on it. thanks for the idea.

Drift: If you wanna go with 4x100 you can just pick up a set of hubs off any base model cobalt or ion. The backend is a simple bolt off and bolt on, now the front I'm not sure about but if you take it apart you should be able to order the hub portion seperately and just replace that. I cant imagine it being more than $200.

the 5x114.3 is sounding a bit more appealing now. 4x100 doesn't offer many good offsets. for example the emotion cr kai's are 4x100 or 5x114.3. the 114 comes from +48 to 0 offset from flat face to deep concave. 4x100 comes only with a flat face with +48 offset. also, r1concepts can easily drill me up a set of rotors for this and i won't downgrade my braking.

i am wondering what happens with the wheel speed sensors with the front hubs. are they the same spec in the grand am as the cobalt ss?

yes, which is why i also asked about wheel speed sensors. they are built into the hubs. are they the same? the one guy i know that did this conversion i flamed for putting garbage axis wheels on his car after going through all the trouble of converting. kinda regret that lol.

Th 5x114.3 swap isnt easy.

The front is no problem as along as your an 05 or 06. You simply need Pontiac Grand Am hubs and either G6 or SS/TC Knuckles. Everything is basically plugnplay up front

Its the rear that is an issue. there is no direct bolt on part that works. You cant redrill the hubs because they are asymmetric(theres only stud reinforcemen in certain areas) The race cars all use modified rear axle assemblies, either Grand Am front(and a tension bolt) or rear hubs and custom CNC brake brackets.

I know apparently you cant get JDMYO enough with 4x100 but its MUCH easier and less expensive than goin 5x114.3

4x100 costs you hubs, some redrilled rotors and rotor spacers(or custom rotors)

5x114.3 costs you hubs, some redrilled rotors and rotor spacers(or custom rotors), knuckles, a modified rear axle beam and custom rear brake brackets.

All things being equal 5x114.3 will end up costing you almost $2000 MORE than 4x100
