The EGT values reported by the ECU are calculated I'm told, but I went catless because tuned I saw temps in excess of 1850*f logged in HP Tuners during a hard 4th gear pull at ~22 psi boost. Even if they aren't close to real values, they scared me. This is with the Cat Protection off so it didn't go very rich (.71 lambda) during the pull. I run .88 lambda WOT.

I had a ZZP catted DP on it, but thought it'd become a solid mass at some point.

14.7 X Lambda = AFR,

Stoich = 1.0 Lambda

.88 X 14.7 = 12.94 AFR

Stock Lambda is leaner than that by a long shot in the midrange and cruise is 1.0 Lambda or 14.7 AFR.

so what your saying is that you'd absolutely recommend a catless DP vs catted if the person is going to tune/upgrade?

If you don't have emission testing where you live, or if you are willing to put the cat back on when needed, yes. Most aftermarket cats are good for 1800 - 1850*f EGT's depending on construction materials. Like I said, I don't know how close the estimates from the ECU are, but the catless DP flows better anyway.
