Maybe it was an inefficient amp. I don't really know, but everything went to ~7 volts on good hits.

Holy cow! My mtx 81000d rated to 1500wrms pushing a pair of new alpine type s 12s only draws me down to ~ 12.1V when I'm pushing it real hard.

Yeah, not sure why, but it did that from the time I bought the stereo until I sold the car.

That's a real large amp for 1000x1 RMS. Guess you won't have to worry about it overheating.
