Anyone who could help, would be doing me a great favor if they did:
My 05 Cobalt recently started creaking- and this is the best word I can come up with to describe it- when I make a hard turn, right or left. I've been to the shop and they told me it seems to be something with the rack and pinion, but I'm not convinced. It sounds like it could be a lubricant issue, considering what I've read up on. It makes a noise like if you jammed a pvc pipe into a slightly larger pvc pipe, so there was no space in between, and then tried to twist them- except deeper and louder, obviously.
I've had my car into the dealer recently for the BCM and they've been giving me a lot of hell, so I'd really rather not go back any time soon. The guys at my nearest dealership are extremely unpleasant. Let me also add that I have never heard this sound before until immediately after I got it back from the dealership. The exact same day.
Anyways, curious if anyone else has run into this and if they can tell me what they know about it and/or how to fix it. Even some educated guessing would be helpful.
