HI, I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with automatic transmission. I replaced the CV axle.During this process the entire axle came out of the transmission. Since i'm not familiar with the transmission I called a friend,who is a mechanic, to help me finish the project. When he started to install the axle I noticed the keeper wasn't on the axle. I brought this to his attention but he said that it was probably still inside the transmission. We completed the job and everything seemed to be fine. Soon I began to notice a slight roar that seemed to be coming from the transmission. It wasn't long before the car started running at a top speed of approximately 30 mph although the speedometer was indicating the car was going about 100 mph. I had another mechanic look at the car and he replaced the speed sensor. During which time he found a small piece of metal inside the transmission. Continued on next post
