Good evening all,
As of lately, a whining noise has been coming from under the hood at startup and seems to cease once the engine gets up to temperature. I have taken a video from the cold start this morning. After doing research, it seems that the alternator would be the culprit. I am just looking for some confirmation of this, based on the Youtube video I have uploaded.
If so, what is the best way of replacing the alternator? Can you replace from under the hood, or do you need to get under the vehicle to make it easier?
The car is my girlfriends and is a 2005 Cobalt (I believe an LS).

Thanks.
