Removing Emblems?? I need help

Do the bow ties put on with adhesive or will there be holes behind them? Im fixing to debadge my 06 ls.

im pretty sure that they are screwed in. im n ot 100% sure though. i was goin to take it off but didnt have time. and plus im prob just gunna paint it black or put a black one in but i really dont know how to paint it
