So obviously, I'm new here, and to cobalts. Bought one today from a friend and I got home from work and went to move the car, turned the ignition and all the power cut out and I couldn't turn the key back the whole way. Couldn't figure anything out so I went to disconnect the battery and mess with it in the morning, and as soon as I lifted the truck lid to do it.. The power comes back and everything's fine. What could have caused this?? I'm guessing something just loose but I won't be able to tell until morning. Anyone ever have this happen? It's an 06 ls coupe btw

The previous owner told me about a recall on the ignition and shifter but said he got it fixed.

Good luck getting electrical help here.

I've had 07 LS for 4 1/2 years and have never had that problem, but I know if the steering wheel is turned all the way to either side when you turn the ignition off it wont let you take the key out, because it will lock before the key can turn all the back. For that, you just have to turn to the wheel to the farthest to disengage the steering wheel lock, then turn the key to off. This can happen on other cars as well.

Yeah it sounds like a steering wheel lock issue. Turn the wheel further to whatever side it's turned to and then you can take the key out. The lock is to prevent someone from stealing your car.
