2.2 ecotec 112k. valves started ticking about 2 weeks ago. I checked oil, changed oil. This ticking would come and go for about 2 days. The 3rd day the car was making a deep chirping noise and wouldn't idle ( assumed from lack of oil) so I pulled off the valve cover and the camshafts looked dry, particularly on the driver side. No oil light or engine codes. I pulled off the front of the engine thinking the oil pump was broken but it wasn't. Looked fine to me with no excessive wear. Timing chain and balancer chain look fine with correct tension. Any ideas why no oil? Could a passage be blocked???

a blocked passage is the only thing i could think of if everything you said is actually good. have you manually checked the oil pressure? if an oil galley is blocked it'd show up as higher than normal pressure.
