Odd vibration from front tires? during cold months..

My wifes cobalt is an 2006 LS... 2 door..in the winter months latly she told she has a vibration coming from front end.. meh i assumed it was air.. so i aired up her tires drove the car ( this is after she got off work ) and car drove fine.. but i told her take my dakota and let me see what it does.. so i drove her car next morning and a wicked vibration from front end i stopped check tires they were fine air was fine but oddly once car was fully warmed up when it was sitting on side of road.. the vibration went away.. defroster on 1st setting or sometimes 2nd.. next day i tried it again with defroster off i dunno was an idea.. same vibration until i drove it for a mile or so and it warmed up during warm temps never noticed this before..when it vibrated i looked at engine nothing looked out of norm but im no mechanic.. it totally felt like i had a blown front drive tire as if it was a flat it just thump thump thump.. any clues.. i did a search but i couldnt find anyone with odd issue.. i havent had a wheel balance done on it yet but wouldnt the wheel balance issue stay with the vechicle.. rather then go away and were only doing maybe 5-15 mph .. the thump is too bad to try to get faster.. but once warmed were golden..

just wondering ... snow or ice in rims ? i get snow in my rims so doesnt my wife and it will vibrate like a mother til most of it falls out .... allways gets stuck in the back of the rim . it will stop but park the car at night and next morning it will do it again sometimes and have a pool of ice on the inner bottom of the rim

part of cleaning my wife and my cobalt off is to get the snow out of the rims ... if you dont your in for a ride lol ......

Weird I noticed the same thing the other day when it was really cold, but as soon as it warmed up the vibration went away. I don't have snow or much ice to speak of here in Florida.

where is the vibration felt? is it felt as feedback in the steering wheel or is it felt in the seat?

if it is the front tires when you loosely grip the wheel it will shake left to right.

No its coming from the tires in the cold weather, I figures it had something to do with the difference in air pressure with the temp change, and low pro tires, I've never had them before so I figured it must have been them.

just a thought .... mabey something to do with the brakes until they warm up ?

I also have this problem(or so it sounds like). On my LT, it's not sever but have noticed as well that it's taking place mostly in cold conditions. I can feel a shake in the steering wheel a little but the noise is the most noticable. It also seems as though it's coming primarily from the right front tire. I do need new tires and probably new brake pads by this point but the car was doing the same thing 20k miles ago when I bought it(at the time, already had 40k miles on it). My guess is, a wheel bearing is going bad. I took it to the dealer I purchased it from and they said it was the struts, tried charging me $1500 to replace them(while still under warranty from them, at which point I left with great distaste for the dealership.

I have an LS that when I bought it had bald tires and I scored a deal for a 4 set of 195/65R15's for $30 brand new. They were oversized and never noticed this issue and after those tires wore down I bought a new set of wheels and tires that are 215/40R17 and im in colorado where we have been having sub zero temps for days straight and the first morning I drove to work I felt massive thumps from the front and also thought it was low pressure since I filled them up in the warmth of my shop and not the cold outside. After putting 32psi in it I went on the road again and nothing. But the next morning it did the same thing. Till this day it thumps like im hitting ruts or potholes for the first mile or two until it warms up and then it stops and the ride is smooth. Is it due to ice/snow in my wheels or (I feel dumb asking because I work in a tire shop) can low pros "freeze" with a flat spot and that causes the thump until say driving breaks them loose and rounds out the tire again? Dumb question but I've never had lowpros before and am not familiar with their characteristics. They are balanced and aligned.
