im running RE audio 6.5's and 6x9's rated at 70 watts and 100 watts RMS
FS: JBL 600 watt 4 channel amnp

A bit light on the speaker side but so long as you dont mash the gain up they should handle alright. You just had those hooked up one speaker to each output right? (pos-pos, neg-neg) That amp should have no problem running those...odd that it would be getting hot.
