    Fan never shuts off?

You didn't state what year your cobalt is? If you have 05 or 06, and remove the cowling under the wipers, you will find a black mat affixed above entrance to the heater box(passenger side). This is only on early models. Later models do not have this. The black mat may have become detached. If...

    GF's 2008LS P0016 code...

You would have to have the valve cover off, and then it would make perfect sense. If you google "timing chain 2.2 ecotec", there are several illustrations. I haven't mastered uploading images yet...

    2006 cobalt air conditioner problem

I know I already said this, but have a shop vacuum down the system and charge it with the correct amount. I use to fill them with a can, and then let some out till compressor ran all the time at idle. Worked good for the most part, until there comes along a 100 degree day, and it don't work...

    GF's 2008LS P0016 code...

They are good cars, and good motors for the most part. But there were millions of them made, and a few have to be problems. I have had about 50 cobalts, 20 Ions, 10 L series and 5 HHRs. I have run into every imaginable problem, I purchased all the vehicles from insurance auctions. Post accident...

    GF's 2008LS P0016 code...

Maybe this '08 has jumped a tooth? How many miles? Here's would I would do. Pull valve cover, set number cylinder to top dead center, using the timing mark on the crank pulley, to the mark on timing chain cover. It's up around 10 o'clock position. Now look for the diamond on the exhaust...

    3rd Cylinder Misfire. PLEASE HELP

There are two separate coils in the module. If you bust it apart you will see there are in fact two coils. Each one fires two plugs. Take the unit off, flip it over and you will see two humps molded in the case where the coils are. Or look at any wiring diagram and you will see them. ----------...

    3rd Cylinder Misfire. PLEASE HELP

The 120 pounds on the number 3 cylinder is most likely the problem. Valve or rings, not electrical. Most manuals state there should be no more then 10 psi difference between cylinders. There are two coils, each coil fires two spark plugs at the same time, one with fuel and another without. If...

    2006 cobalt air conditioner problem

Did you charge your Freon at some point? The cobalts use only 1 or 1.1 pounds of Freon. If you charged it with a can you may have too much in the system, causing it to act up. You need to vacuum it out and recharge with the correct amount.

    Front end rattle

Rattles in the front ends of a Cobalt are very common. The design of the electric power steering motor is one source, drive any Cobalt across a grass lawn and you can hear the slop in the motors worm gear. Slop can usually be found in the steering shaft connected between the electric motor and...

low oil pressure light is on.

Did the dealership use a mechanical gauge to verify the 35 psi? Has anyone changed the oil pan or timing chain, or timing chain cover. The oil pump is in the timing chain cover, there's two gaskets between the cover and block. There's one gasket area in the oil pan to the block. These could be...

Check/have checked your timing chain guides

I'm new to the forum, but have been working on Cobalts, ION's, HHR's and L Series for years. Done a few Cavaliers and Sunfires too. This week I replaced three timing chains sets on 05 Cobalt, 06 Cobalt and 01 L200. All L61 2.2l, all under 136k. Every one of them had broken guides, the L200 even...
