Shift knob replacement on 2010 ls cobalt

Hi guys... I've been doing some reading and was wondering if it's possible to just change the shift knob on 2010 cobalt without putting in a short shifter?

Yes, you'll need one with a set screw in the side to hold the shaft since the shift lever isn't threaded.

I don't know of any, i bought a used B&M. The other option is threading the stick.

Is it a fairly easy job to swap it out??

The shifter, yes. The knob isn't too difficult either.
