I went to start my 2010 Cobalt last night, and it had absolutely no power. I figured the battery was dead, so I went to take the key out - and it was stuck in the ignition! I poked around a bit and found the ignition release plunger and got the key out.
After looking online, it seems this is a known issue and GM has a recall out to fix it, so I just need to get it to the dealer. My question is, if I jump the car tonight in order to get the battery charged again, will it still have juice tomorrow morning to take it to the shop? Or will it have drained itself again? My roommate is the only one who can jump my car that I know of, and he's at work all day tomorrow from before the shop opens until well after they close.
A secondary question - has anyone gotten something serviced through a GM recall like this? Will they offer me a rental car so that I'm not stranded?
