Help l61 engine swap

Long story short i was given a 06 cobalt with a jumped timing chain ,bought a low milage 2.2 completed install then realized its a 07 , My question is if i use 07 wire harness buy a new ecu and probably wire harness going to bcm will this work or epic fail Please help..... before i waste more time for nothing

Does the 07 have VVT? If so you should be able to just swap the valves into the old motor and use that. Easiest way around your problem.

i think it doesnt have vvt as this motor uses a cam pos sensor i was trying to leave it in the car as i didnt do my research and finished the job only to find out my crank pos sensor wont read the new crank lobes i have the original wire harness and could replace ecu but not sure if it will work with my bcm

The VVT motors use cam sensors. The VVT solenoids are adjacent to cyl1 spark plug on the valve cover. You'd know if they were there. I always forget which year they went from the L61 to the LAP.

Have you done a crank relearn? How did you come to the conclusion that the crank sensor wasn't seeing the crank?

after i got a no start lol then i did some research and read that my new engine has different (7) i think lobes on the crank and stopped how do i do a relearn and my old engine did not have a cam sensor i think it goese by pressure switch?
