So I posted on here a couple weeks back about some backlash I was getting when going into reverse and drive (automatic transmission). I had my car at the dealership and did a transmission fluid change, motor mounts replaced, u-joint replaced and basically had the entire car looked over. I STILL am experiencing this clunking sound when going into reverse or drive! I went back to the dealer and had the technician come out and listen to it. He says it is completely normal "in these cars (GM)" to have that loud backlash of the gears when going into reverse or drive. At that point I was like "ok I guess that's normal" but was still skeptical so I took my car (09 chevy cobalt lt) to a mechanic I trusted enough to tell me the truth of this noise. He gets in the car and puts it into reverse and drive, he hears the backlash and tell me that it's normal in GM cars. I am still unsure. Anyone hear or know of this being normal???? Anyone?
