Hey guys!

I have a 2009 G5 GT 2.2l 5-speed, and just recently I've been having issue with my car's cooling system.

The temperatures when driving will stay around 172-178 when they used to be around 180ish, and when I come to a dead stop and sit for a while they will go up to 220, fans will kick in, then they will go down, back up, down, back up, and repeat that over and over.

I do not have a check engine light.

I should mention, that all of this started after an automated car wash. All my fluid levels are normal and I haven't been losing anything (coolant or oil), and if I am losing fluids, it's unnoticeable.

My buddy who was a mechanic for a good amount of time told me he doesn't think it's the thermostat because my car would throw a code for that. Who knows though!

Any input on this matter is greatly appreciated!

How long have you had the car and have you had a recent weather change?

I've had the car for about a year now, and it started mid-winter after a car wash. I believe it was December when we had a day of mid-40's temperature I decided to go to the car wash. Other than before that it maintained about 180ish throughout the summer into winter until then.

Weird, I'm not real sure where to go with this one. Flush the coolant system with an appropriate mixture of coolant/water for your area temperatures and see where that gets you.
