Yesterday is the first time I've ever experienced this, maybe someone can give me some insight to what caused this and what the fix might be if this problem happens again but can't be fixed.

Pulled into a gas station, turned off the car and got something to drink. Started up the car and put it into reverse to back out (backing out is on a slight slope but it felt like I backed out normally). I went into neutral and then into drive while holding the brake and after going into drive released the brake and applied throttle, but the car only revved. It was very slowly 1-3mph creeping forward. I proceeded to try neutral into drive to reset same thing, park into drive, yet again still no acceleration. Finally it fixed itself went i went from a low to drive, felt the nudge forward as I always do and I was finally able to accelerate.

Everything is stock on the car and no check engine lights. with 120k on the motor.

Part of me wants to say it has to do with electronics near the gear selector because it still drives fine, no slip between gear changes or during throttle application.

This has only happened once so far and hope that it doesn't happen again, if anyone has some insight on how this happened or had it happened and was able to fix it let me know.

You can try resetting the ECM/TCM by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.
