2008 Chevy Cobalt LS - Mystery Part ???

Hi. Can someone tell me what the part at the top of this picture is? I am referring to the cylindrical shaped part with a cover on it that is slightly open. It is just to the right of the O2 sensor and down and behind. I am wondering if the fact that it is not sealed (by virtue of the cover being open a crack) is a problem. But I don't even know what the part is or does. Appreciate your input. Thank you. RV

I'm not sure what your talking about not without marking it in the photo. If I'm understanding what bit you've explained is the motor/transmission mount with raw aluminum and that rusty ring to the rubber bushing right? Yeah motor/transmission mount. Very important. LoL good luck!

If you're referring to this, i'd go with what pawntec said, looks like the rear engine/tranny mount.
